Our Children’s Sunday school meets every Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Children of all ages can experience the love of God found in Christ.
Our children’s ministry program is designed to celebrate the joy of childhood and the importance of family faith development. We know that spiritual grounding is essential as children grow and develop.
We honor the individual needs of each child, offering an environment of support and encouragement. Our programs are designed to teach your child the truth about God in fun but spiritual and engaging ways. We also recognize that every child and family is unique and honor diversity in lifestyle, faith background and physical, mental and learning challenges.
We recognize that there are times parents struggle with how to answer those tough questions that only children ask. Our goal is to provide the whole family with the tools of the faith. Teachers will generally follow a structured curriculum that allows for spiritual growth.
Parents may start picking their children up from Sunday school at 10:15. Children that are Kindergarten to 5th grade after Sunday school is dismissed and take them to regular church service. There, the Kindergarten through 3rd grade are invited down to the front of the congregation to listen to a Children’s Sermon and then have the option to attend Children’s Church located in the Little Ark building. This is usually a continuation of the Children’s Sermon and coordinates with the sermon given during the church service for their parents.
For walking to pre-k children, we offer a class that starts at 9:20 a.m. until church is over. They have a Bible lesson and activity on their level and they learn church songs and play musical instruments.
At some point, the pre-k group will sing a song during the regular church service. This is usually a few weeks prior to Christmas.
Infants and Nursery
We offer a nursery during the Sunday school time and during the church service. During the church service, the nursery is located in the Baby Ark/Cry Room, located in the back of the sanctuary. Parents can drop off their baby or sit in with their infant and listen and watch the sermon from behind glass panels. This nursery is open during the entire time of the regular church service.

Each person must read the Child Protection Policy, which clearly outlines in detail FUMC’s policies regarding the safeguarding the well-being of children and youth.
At least 2 adults must be present in the classroom at all times. Each adult must be in line of vision of another at all times when present with a child. One should never be isolated 1:1 with a child at any time.
Caregivers are trained on changing a diaper for children in the Nursery through the 2/3 age level and always change diapers in line of vision of other Caregivers.
When a child in the younger age group needs to use the restroom, one may provide assistance to the child in the restroom located in the classroom. The door must kept open and must maintain the line of sight policy.
When an Elementary child needs to use to the restroom, one may escort the child to the bathroom and wait outside of the bathroom for the child.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” Matthew 19:14
